How to Change Google Background to Your Own Picture

Things to Know

• You cannot customize the Google.com page.
• You can only customize the New tab page in Chrome. And to customize it, Google must be your default search engine and you must be signed into your Google account.
• This method works only on the Chrome browser.

Replace Google Background With Your Picture

Step 1: Open the New tab page in Chrome.

Step 2: Click on the Customize Chrome button (or the pencil icon) at the bottom-right corner. Know what to do if the Customize Chrome button doesn’t show up.

Step 3: Then, click on Change Theme.

Step 4: Select Upload an image on the appearing screen.

Step 5: Select the image you want to set as the background picture. Here’s how the Google page will look like:

Few Tips:

• Changing the background picture of the Google page will also change the tab color of the Chrome browser. To use a different color scheme for the Chrome browser, select the preferred color from the list of colors that appear when you click the Customize Chrome button.
• To have a clean Google page with your picture as the background and the search button, disable shortcuts. For that, click on the Customize Chrome button > scroll down on the sidebar > turn off the toggle for Show shortcuts. Check other cool tips to customize the New tab page in Chrome.
• To remove the background picture, go to Customize Chrome > Change theme > select Default Chrome.
