Basic Fixes:
- Check if Instagram is down: App downtime can often cause problems and can also be why Instagram goes black when using the app. So, go to Downdetector’s Instagram status page and check for any reported outages.
- Disable Dark mode: While Dark mode can help reduce eye strain, there have been times when it has caused the Instagram app to black out completely. In this case, you can disable Dark mode on Instagram and check again.
- Close and restart the Instagram app: Apps might suffer from temporary glitches or bugs if you have several background apps open. In this case, you can close the app from running in the background. Then, open the Instagram app again and check.
- Uninstall and re-install Instagram: If you’re still facing issues, uninstalling and reinstalling the Instagram app might do the trick. This way, all your old app data and settings will be deleted and a fresh copy of the app will be installed, fixing any related issues.
Fix 1: Disable Full Keyboard Access on iPhone
Using an external keyboard to control and use your iPhone allows you to use general keyboard shortcuts. And while it is a good Accessibility setting, it might also cause issues with certain applications, like Instagram. To fix this, disable Full Keyboard Access on your iPhone. Here’s how.
Step 1: Open Settings and tap on Accessibility. Here, tap on Keyboards.
Step 2: Tap on Full Keyboard Access and ensure the Full Keyboard Access toggle is disabled.
Fix 2: Clear Instagram Cache on Android
Like every other app, Instagram also uses cache to ensure quick and smooth functions. However, this can backfire if this cache gets too big or corrupted. When this happens, you can clear the Instagram app cache on your Android phone. Here’s how to do it.
Tip: iPhone users can offload the Instagram app because there are no options to clear the app cache.
Step 1: Open Settings and tap on Apps. Then, tap on Instagram.
Step 2: Here, tap on Storage > Clear cache.
