3 Ways to Reinstall Apps on iPhone

Quick Tips
  • Tap and hold an app icon, and tap on Delete to uninstall the app. Search for the app on the App Store to re-install it.
  • To reinstall an app without removing the data: Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage, select the app from the list, tap on Offload, and tap on Reinstall.
  • If you can’t remember what you uninstalled, go to the App Store, tap on your profile icon, select Purchased, and go to Not on this iPhone to find the app.

Method 1: Uninstall and Reinstall an App from Home Screen

Step 1: Tap and hold an app icon in the App library and select Delete app. Tap on Delete to confirm.

Step 2: Open the App Store, search for the application, and tap on Get or the cloud icon to download it back.

Note: Another way to uninstall an iPhone app is to go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Tap on the app that you want to uninstall and hit Delete app.

Method 2: Reinstall an App Without Losing Data

By offloading an app, only the app software is deleted. Nothing happens to the app data and documents. After you reinstall an offloaded app, the app data will again show up.

Step 1: On your iPhone, go to Settings -> General, and then tap on iPhone Storage

Step 2: Scroll down, select the YouTube app, and tap on Offload App. Tap on the Offload App once again to confirm your action.

Step 3: Now, tap on Reinstall App.

Step 2: Tap on Not on this iPhone on the next screen. Here you will see the recently deleted apps on iPhone.

  1. My Outlook has been acting up. I thought I would try reloading it. I wanted to save the data. I followed the instruction. When I tried to down load and save data , I received the message on my iPhone 6, “Unable to Download item. Please try again later.” Now what do I do?
