Try Basic Fixes
- Check if Facebook is down: Facebook is not immune to occasional server-level hiccups. Hence, it’s worth checking if Facebook’s servers are facing any outages by visiting a website like Downdetector.
- Update the Facebook app: A buggy Facebook app can also mess things up and result in error messages like “no data available” or “there was an error fetching the data.” Head to the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iPhone) to update the Facebook app and see if that helps.
Fix 1: Disable Extensions
One of your third-party extensions may be interfering with Facebook. To rule out that possibility, disable all your browser extensions and try using Facebook again.
To disable extensions, type chrome://extensions (Chrome) or edge://extensions (Edge) in the URL bar at the top and press Enter. Then, use the toggles to turn off all the extensions.
After this, restart your browser and use Facebook again. If you don’t encounter any errors, enable your extensions one by one until the issue occurs again. Then, remove the problematic extension from your browser.
Fix 2: Clear Browser or App Cache
Corrupt or outdated browser cache data is a common cause of browser-related issues. If that’s the case clearing the browser cache and cookies should help.
To clear the browser cache in Chrome or Edge:
Step 1: Press the Ctrl + Shift + Delete keys to open the Clear browsing data panel.
Step 2: Click the drop-down menu to select All time. Then, check the boxes for Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files. Then, hit the Clear data button.
Similarly, corrupt Facebook app cache data on your phone can also cause it to malfunction. Hence, it’s best to clear the Facebook app cache on your phone.
Step 1: Long-press on the Facebook app icon and tap the info icon from the resulting menu.
Step 2: Go to Storage and tap the Clear cache option at the bottom.
Fix 3: Log Out of the Facebook Mobile App
Sometimes, authentication issues with your Facebook account can prevent the app from loading and trigger the “no data available” error. Signing out of the Facebook app and signing back in usually helps fix such problems.
Step 1: Open the Facebook app and tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner.
Step 2: Scroll down to tap on Log out. Select Log Out again to confirm
If you are using a computer, click your profile icon in the top right corner and select Log Out.
Now, sign back into your Facebook account and check if you still get any errors. This should resolve any pertinent issues you may have. If you are still facing the issue, try reaching out to Facebook support to troubleshoot the issue.
