Basic Fixes:
- Check your subscription status: To listen offline on Spotify, you must be subscribed to any of their premium plans. So, before troubleshooting this issue, check if your Spotify subscription is still active.
- Check the device and track limit: Regardless of your plan, you can only download songs or podcasts on 5 devices at a time with a limit of 10,000 for each device. Check and ensure you’re within these limits.
- Force close and restart the Spotify app: If offline playback randomly keeps stopping or won’t work on the Spotify app, open all background apps and close them. Then, restart only the Spotify app to reload app data and services.
- Download the track again: If the track wasn’t properly downloaded the first time around, you might have issues playing it offline. So, go online and download the track again on Spotify. Then, try playing it offline.
- Log out and log in again: Certain account issues can cause problems with using Spotify Premium offline. So, if you’ve recently changed your account password or upgraded your Spotify plan, log out of Spotify. Then, log back in again and check.
- Reinstall Spotify: Uninstall the Spotify app to delete all app settings. Then, reinstall a fresh copy of the app and try offline playback once again.
Fix 1: Confirm Offline Mode Is Enabled
Premium users can manually enable Offline mode within the app. This allows them to listen to their downloaded Spotify songs, regardless of whether they’re connected to the internet. So, if you can’t listen to music offline on Spotify Premium, ensure Offline mode is enabled. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Open Spotify and tap on your name icon. Tap on Settings and privacy.
Step 2: Tap on Playback and enable the Offline mode toggle.
Fix 2: Check Device Storage
To save downloaded songs on your device, sufficient storage space on your device needs to be available. If you’re unsure, check the storage space available on your device. If it is less than expected, you should make some space before re-downloading the song or podcast. Follow the below steps to do it.
Step 1: Open Spotify and tap your name icon. Tap on Settings and privacy.
Step 2: Tap on Storage and check the available space.
If enough space is unavailable, free up some space on your iPhone or Android device. Then, download the song or podcast and check again.

Fix 3: Clear Cache for Spotify
To help your apps load faster, certain information is collected every time you use the app. However, this cache accumulates over time and can hamper app functions. In this case, you can clear the cache for the Spotify app on your phone. Here’s how.
Step 1: Open Spotify → your name icon → Settings and privacy. Tap on Storage.
Step 2: Tap on Clear cache and confirm when prompted.
Fix 4: Disable Low Power Mode/Battery Saver
When enabled, Low Power Mode or Battery Saver mode can help save battery life on your smartphone. This is, however, done at the expense of other apps. This can be one of the reasons why you can’t listen to music offline on Spotify Premium. Here’s how to disable it on your Android or iOS device.
Turn off Low Power Mode on iPhone
Step 1: Open Settings and tap on Battery. Turn off the Low Power Mode toggle.
Turn off Battery Saver on Android
Step 1: Pull down from the top of the page twice to open Quick settings. Tap on the Power saving tile.
Now, close and reopen the Spotify app. Once done, try playing something offline to check if Spotify Premium is working as expected.
