What to Do if You Can’t Repost on TikTok

Quick Tips
  • If the Repost option does not appear for a specific TikTok video, the creator may have disabled it.
  • Ensure your TikTok account isn’t banned or restricted from posting content.
  • If the issue persists, try clearing the TikTok app cache or reinstalling the app on your phone.

Try Basic Fixes

  • Ensure the creator has not disabled repost: If you cannot find the Repost option for a select few TikTok videos, the creator has likely disabled this feature. In that case, there may be nothing wrong with the TikTok app itself.
  • Update the app: If you use an outdated version of TikTok, you may have trouble reposting videos. So, updating the TikTok app from the Play Store or App Store should solve your problem.

Fix 1: Check Your TikTok Account Status

It’s possible that TikTok is not letting you repost videos due to an issue with your account. This can happen if TikTok has temporarily banned your account for violating its community guidelines.

In such instances, you should receive a notification when you open the TikTok app, informing you of the account ban. If you feel the ban was unfair, request the TikTok team to remove it. To do so, open the ban notification and tap Appeal. Then, follow the on-screen prompts to submit your request.

Once TikTok reviews your request and removes restrictions from your account, you should be able to repost videos as before.

Fix 2: Clear TikTok Cache

Like most apps, TikTok generates and stores temporary files known as app cache. The problem occurs when this data becomes old or corrupt, interfering with the app’s performance.

Fortunately, TikTok provides a straightforward method for clearing the cache on your Android or iPhone. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Open the TikTok app and switch to the profile tab. Tap the menu icon at the top right corner and select Settings and privacy.

Step 2: Scroll down and tap on Free up space > tap on Clear next to Cache.

Fix 3: Reinstall the TikTok App

If you still can’t repost videos on TikTok, some of the core app files may be corrupted. Your best option is to uninstall the TikTok app completely and reinstall it on your phone.

On Android, long-press the TikTok app icon and select Uninstall. Then, tap OK to confirm. If you have an iPhone, long-press the TikTok app icon and select Delete App > Delete. Once removed, install the TikTok app and try reposting videos again.
