Fix 1: Check Camera Settings in Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams may fail to detect the camera if it isn’t selected inside its app. To resolve the issue, go to the Teams app settings.
Step 1: Open Microsoft Teams, click the three-dot menu at the top-right, and select Settings.
Step 2: Select Devices in the left sidebar and pick your connected camera to use with the Microsoft Teams app. Once enabled, you can see its live preview.
Fix 2: Enable Camera for the Microsoft Teams App
Missing camera permission is a common reason Microsoft Teams does not detect the camera on Windows 11. Open Windows Settings to turn it on.
Step 1: Press the Windows key > search Camera Privacy Settings to open its system setting.
Step 2: Locate Microsoft Teams under Let apps access your camera, and enable its toggle.
Fix 3: Update the Camera Drivers Manually
If your laptop has outdated camera drivers, you might face problems with Microsoft Teams connecting to the camera on Windows 11. Use Device Manager to install the latest drivers.
Step 1: Press the Windows key, search Device Manager, and click to open it.
Step 2: Expand Cameras, right-click your connected camera, and select Update driver.
Step 3: Select Search automatically for drivers to let Windows 11 find and install the latest camera drivers.
Fix 4: Clear Microsoft Teams Cache
In addition to outdated drivers, Microsoft Teams may fail to detect the camera on Windows 11 if its app cache is corrupt. Deleting it manually should restore normalcy.
Step 1: Press the Windows + R shortcut to open the Run dialog, type %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams, and press Enter.
Step 2: Select all files and folders in the opened directory using the Ctrl + A shortcut and press the Delete key to remove it. Restart your PC.
Fix 5: Disable GPU Hardware Acceleration in Teams
Lastly, you can disable the GPU hardware acceleration in Microsoft Teams to fix the camera non-detection issues on Windows 11.
Step 1: Open Microsoft Teams, click the three-dot menu at the top right, and select Settings.
Step 2: Select General in the left sidebar, enable Disable GPU hardware acceleration, and restart the app.
