How to Fix Blurry Webcam or Laptop Camera on Windows 11

  • Inspect your webcam: Adjust the webcam focus ring or remove its protective layer causing the blur. Further, clean its lens gently with a microfiber cloth.
  • Check external webcam compatibility: View the product manual to learn about its compatibility. You can also Google the product name to check if it’s compatible with Windows 11.
  • Replug the external webcam: Unplug it from your Windows 11 system, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in.
  • Disable webcam autofocus: Open the dedicated external webcam software, find its autofocus feature, and disable it causing random webcam blurs.

Fix 1: Run the Camera Troubleshooter

Windows 11 offers an in-built camera troubleshooter to solve blurry webcam and other camera-related issues. Here’s how to access it:

Step 1: Press the Windows + I shortcut to open the Settings app, select Bluetooth & devices from the left sidebar, and click Cameras.

Step 2: Select your connected camera. If you haven’t connected an external webcam, select Integrated Camera.

Step 3: Click Troubleshoot and follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the blurry webcam on Windows 11.

Step 4: Alternatively, head to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooter > click Run next to Camera.

Fix 2: Update or Reinstall the Webcam Drivers

Obsolete webcam drivers often produce a hazy view and malfunction the Camera app on Windows 11. Open the Device Manager app to update or reinstall the webcam drivers.

Step 1: Press the Windows key, search Device Manager, and click to open it.

Fix 3: Repair or Reset the Camera App

Lastly, repair or reset the Camera app manually from Windows 11 settings to fix its blurry view.

Step 1: Press the Windows key, search Installed apps, and click to open it.
