Basic Fixes
- Check network connection: Ensure there are no problems with internet connectivity on your device. Further, ensure your cellular plan supports incoming messages.
- Open messages app: You may have disabled notifications for the messages app – in that case, open the app and check for the code.
- Re-install Telegram: Re-install the Telegram app to get rid of bugs and glitches causing the issue. r
Fix 1: Receive Code on Telegram on Another Device
Are you logged in to the same Telegram account on a different device? If so, you must have received a code there. That’s the first option Telegram opts for when sending a code.
It is only when you don’t receive the code on the other device that you have the option to receive a Telegram verification code via SMS or even a phone call.
You can use Telegram on a Windows desktop and receive the code for completing the sign-in process.
Fix 2: Receive Code Via Call
Telegram will wait for a minute or two to send the SMS, if not wait for the timer to end and verify your number using the phone call.
Tap on Call me to dictate the code to get a verification code over a phone call.
Fix 3: Check If You’ve Blocked Unknown Callers
If you’ve blocked or silenced unknown callers on your smartphone – you might not receive code via a phone call from Telegram.
On iPhone
Open Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers and turn it off.
On Android
Step 1: Open the Phone app and click on the three-dots icon > Settings.
Step 2: Tap on Blocked numbers and turn off the toggle for Unknown.
Fix 4: Don’t Ask to Resend Too Much
If there is a delay in receiving the code, don’t tap the ‘Resend Code’ button too many times too quickly. Tap once if required and then wait for the SMS code. Or else, you might see an error message for too many requests.
At times, it may take a while for Telegram to send the code.

It is very disheartening that telegram could do this, many people are making same complain and nothing is done since last week Monday I’ve not been able to login,they claim to send code and the code is no where to be found.I wonder what would have happened if other communication apps is like telegram.

Then I had the idea to get the code from one of these free and temporary SMS sides. But there I get only 6 digit codes, but you need a 5 digit code!
