Try Basic Fixes
- Force restart your phone: Press and hold the power button (or side button) and volume down button simultaneously until the device turns off and the Samsung logo appears. Wait for your phone to turn back on and see if the screen works fine.
- Drain your phone’s battery and charge it again: Another thing you can do to fix the black screen of death on your Samsung Galaxy phone is to let its battery drain completely. Once your phone turns off, recharge it using a compatible charger. Several users on a Reddit thread reported success with this trick, so it’s worth a try.
- Tap and squeeze your phone a few times: Your Samsung Galaxy phone may be displaying a black screen because of loose internal contact. In that case, you can tap your phone’s display and back with your fingers. If that doesn’t work, lightly squeeze the sides, as well as the front and back of your phone. You may need to repeat this process a few times before the screen lights up again.
- Inspect your phone for damage and stuck buttons: Did your Samsung phone’s screen turn black after you dropped it on the floor or a hard surface? This might have damaged some of the internal components, causing such unusual behavior. Check your phone for signs of visual damage as well as stuck physical buttons.
Fix 1: Try Booting Your Phone Into Recovery Mode and Wipe the Cache Partition
Your Samsung Galaxy phone maintains a cache partition to store temporary system data to speed up certain processes. However, once this data becomes corrupted, it can cause your Samsung phone to malfunction and become stuck on a blank screen.
To fix this, you can try booting your phone into recovery mode and wiping the cache partition. Here are the steps for the same.
Step 1: Power off your device by holding the power button.
Step 2: Press and hold the power and volume down buttons simultaneously until the device turns on.
Step 3: Once your phone is in recovery mode, use the volume buttons to navigate to the Wipe cache partition option. Then, press the power button to select the option.
Step 4: Highlight the Reboot system now option using the volume buttons and press the power button to select it.
Fix 2: Boot Into Safe Mode
If your Samsung Galaxy phone is showing a black screen but seems to be working otherwise, one of the third-party apps on your phone may be to blame. To investigate this possibility, you’ll need to boot your phone into safe mode.
Step 1: Turn off your phone completely. Then, press and hold the power button until the logo appears.
Step 2: When the logo appears, press and hold the volume down button until your phone boots into safe mode.
If the display works fine while your Samsung Galaxy phone is in safe mode, it’s likely that a third-party app on your phone is causing the issue. Try uninstalling any recently installed apps or games and then restart your phone to exit safe mode.
Fix 3: Reset Your Phone Using Find My Device
If all else fails, you can perform a factory reset as a last resort. Keep in mind that this will erase all the data on your phone, including apps, photos, videos, and other files, as well as reset all the settings. If you want to preserve your data, you can connect your phone to your computer and back up everything.
Since you can’t access your phone’s settings menu due to the black screen, you will have to visit Google’s Find My Device website on another device to reset your Samsung Galaxy phone remotely.
Use the following link to visit Google’s Find My Device website and sign in with the same Google account that is associated with the phone you are trying to erase.
Once signed in, select your device from the list and use the Erase Device option.

This doesn’t make sense at all. The point is, that the screen is dead, black, not working. Then, I read nonsense like “…and the Samsung logo appears. Wait for your phone to turn back on and see if the screen works fine.”
Or is it just me
