4 Fixes for Phone Not Scanning Telegram Web QR Code

Quick Tips
  • Turn off Dark Mode and then increase the screen brightness on your Mac or Windows PC.
  • Switch to a different version of the Telegram Web app. You can switch to Version K from Version A or vice versa.
  • Clear the browser cache for Telegram.

Basic Fixes

  • Clean your phone camera lens: A dirty or foggy camera lens cannot read the QR code from Telegram Web properly.
  • Check internet connection: Run a speed test to quickly scan the QR code and sync all messages.
  • Check Telegram server status: Visit DownDetector to check if Telegram servers are facing any issue in your region.
  • Update web browser: Install the latest version of your web browser to remove any bugs or glitches causing the issue.
  • Use Google DNS: DNS is the backbone of internet connectivity and we suggest switching to Google DNS for better internet speeds.

Fix 1: Increase Brightness on Your Desktop

Ensure that you have set the screen of your Mac or Windows PC to high brightness levels. This will help in quickly scanning the QR code from your phone camera. For Mac, you can press the F2 key to increase the brightness levels.

Fix 2: Turn Off Dark Mode

If you have Dark Mode enabled on your Mac or Windows PC, chances are that your phone won’t be able to scan the Telegram Web QR code due to inverted colors. We suggest turning it off.

Fix 3: Switch to a Different Web Version of Telegram

There are two different web versions of Telegram – K and A. There’s not much of a difference between them except for design elements. Version K has slightly wider chat screen and 3D button layout in comparison to Version A.

Fix 4: Clear Cache on the Web Browser

To improve your browsing experience, your web browser collects cache data that helps in the quick loading of the websites that you visit frequently. If the basic solutions did not help, you could try clearing your web browser’s cache to see if it solves the problem with your phone not scanning the Telegram Web QR code.
