Basic Fixes
- Restart device: Restart your Android device to fix temporary bugs and glitches.
- Check storage: Ensure there’s enough storage space left to accommodate new apps.
- Check network connectivity: Ensure there’s no problem with network connectivity and internet speeds.
- Disable VPN: The app you’re trying to download may not be available in the region set by the VPN.
Fix 1: Clear Pending Downloads
If any updates or apps are downloading in the background, you may not be able to download another app. Here’s how to check and cancel pending downloads.
Step 1: Open the Play Store app, tap on your profile icon at the top right corner, and select Manage apps and devices.
Step 2: Select the See Details button under Pending Downloads or the Updates Available option.

Fix 2: Fix Issues With Play Store and Play Services
If there’s an issue with the Play Store or the Play Services app on your Android device, you may face a problem installing apps.
Step 1: Open the Settings app. Go to Apps > Manage apps. Find Google Play Store and Google Play Services from the list.
Note: If you don’t find them, open the list that says System Apps.
Once you open the app settings, here’s what you can try doing for both of these apps.
- Clear Cache: This removes all the junk files from the app.
- Force Stop: This stops the app from running, and can get rid of temporary bugs and glitches.
- Uninstall Updates: If the issue stems from a recent update, reverting back to the factory version can help you fix the issue.
Fix 3: Provide Permissions for Play Store and Play Services
Make sure the Google Play Store and the Play Services app have the necessary permissions to function on your device.
Step 1: Open the Settings app. Go to Apps > Manage apps. Find Google Play Store and Google Play Services from the list.
Step 2: For both apps, select App permissions and allow all the permissions in the next screen.
Fix 4: Clear Cache from Package Installer, Downloads and Download Manager
The Package Installer, Downloads, and Download Manager are system services that help you download an app from the Play Store.
Clearing cache from these services can get rid of junk files that may be causing these issues.
Step 1: Open Settings > Apps > Show All, tap on the three dots at the top right corner, and select Show System. Use the Search icon to search for the following apps.
Step 2: Search for the Package Installer, Downloads, and the Download Manager app.
- Once you open any of the apps, tap on Cache and Storage, and Clear Cache.
- Make sure to repeat the steps for all three apps.
If none of the above methods work, try downloading the application from a third-party source. Ensure you are downloading the app from a trusted source, as apps downloaded from external services aren’t verified by Google Play.
