Basic Fixes:
- Restart devices: If the Smart View feature isn’t working on your Samsung Galaxy phone, the first thing you must do is restart it. Also, restart the TV and your Wi-Fi modem. Hopefully, restarting these devices should fix Smart View not working on Samsung phones, especially after an update.
- Check compatible devices: Smart View can be used on Android 4.3 and above Samsung Galaxy phones. Furthermore, it works on TVs that support Miracast technology. So, make sure you are trying to use Smart View with compatible devices.
- Bring TV and phone close: For Smart View to detect any nearby TV, your phone and TV must be within an optimal range (30 feet).
- Authorize TV to connect to your phone: When you connect your Samsung Galaxy phone to your TV for the first time using Smart View, you might receive a pop-up on the TV. Based on the available option, select Allow or Yes on the TV.
- Connect to the same Wi-Fi network: If Smart View isn’t connecting or detecting your TV, ensure your TV and phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network or fix connection problems.
- Disable VPN: If you are using a VPN service on your Samsung phone, you should try disabling it while connecting to the TV using Smart View. Often, a VPN service hampers the connection process between a phone and a TV.
- Update phone software: Sometimes, the Smart View doesn’t work due to an outdated version of the operating system installed on your phone. There could be a mismatch between your phone’s and TV’s software.
- Update TV software: Like a phone, you must update your TV to the latest software version. Typically, your TV will update automatically, but you must check and update it manually.
Fix 1: Grant Smart View Permissions to the TV
Earlier, Smart View was available as a standalone app you needed to download from the Play Store. However, the app has been deprecated and replaced by the SmartThings app. You must use the native Smart View feature in Samsung Galaxy phones or the new SmartThings app (as shown below). Open Quick Settings and continue with these steps.
Step 1: Look for the Smart View tile. Tap on it. Your phone will start looking for nearby TVs.
Step 2: Tap on the TV that you want to connect to.
Fix 2: Clear Cache and Data of Smart View
If you can’t use Smart View on Samsung, you must try clearing the cache of the Smart View service on your Samsung Galaxy phone. To do so, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open Settings on your phone.
Step 2: Go to Apps.
Step 3: Tap on the Sort and Filter icon. Enable the toggle for Show system apps and tap on Ok.
Step 4: Scroll down or use the search at the top to find Smart View. Tap on it.
Step 5: Tap on Storage and hit the Clear cache button.
Step 6: Restart your phone and try using Smart View to connect to the TV.
Step 7: If Smart View is still not working, tap on Clear data in step 5. While clearing the cache will not remove previously paired devices, clearing data will do so.

Step 1: Install the SmartThings app on your Samsung Galaxy phone in case it isn’t pre-installed.
Step 2: Log in to your Samsung account.
Step 3: Tap on the Devices tab at the bottom and press the + icon.
Step 4: Select TV and follow the on-screen instructions to set up the TV.
Step 5: Once connected, tap on your TV in the list of connected devices.
Step 6: Tap the three-dot icon at the top and select Mirror Screen.

Fix 4: Factory Reset Your TV
Finally, if nothing helps in fixing Smart View not working issue, you must factory reset your TV. Doing so will restore the TV to its original settings and delete installed apps and any customizations you have made.
You must check your TV’s manual for proper steps to reset it. For Samsung TVs, go to Settings > General > Reset.
