Top 4 Ways to Fix Facebook Not Showing Friends Post

Quick Tips
  • To see posts just from your friends, tap the three-line icon → Feeds → Friends tab.
  • Hide unwanted posts from your feed to reduce clutter. Tap the three-dot icon next to the post → Hide all from page name.
  • Give Facebook’s algorithm some cues. Interact (comment, share, and like) with posts of friends and pages you want to see more.

Why Am I Not Seeing Friend’s Posts in My Facebook Feed

Let’s first understand how the Facebook feed algorithm works. Facebook not showing recent posts from your friends isn’t a bug, but an algorithm set to showcase ads, groups, and other activities on the main page.

What you see on the default feed is the personalized experience Facebook creates for you based on your interests, interactions, and communication with friends. If you have connected your Facebook account to Instagram, the company also factors in your activities on Instagram and even Messenger.

Facebook prioritizes posts from friends you have interacted the most. After all, the company wants you to spend most of your time on the platform by displaying updates from your favorite friends at the top. While it’s effective and a standard practice from most social media apps, you may miss out on updates from other friends.

Facebook doesn’t straightaway give you the option to disable it. However, you have several options to tweak the feed to your preference and get back the ideal feed.

Fix 1. See Friends Only Posts in the Facebook Feed

Although it’s buried in settings, you can see more of your friend’s posts on Facebook.

Step 1: Open Facebook on your phone. Go to your profile from the top-right corner (Android) or bottom-right corner (iPhone). Select Feeds.

Step 2: Move to the Friends tab and check posts from your friends only.

You can check your friends’ posts without anything affecting your experience.

Note: Unfortunately, Facebook won’t leave you alone here as well. You will come across a sponsored post after every few posts.

Fix 2. Check Favorites Feed

Do you want to view posts from specific contacts only? You can create a favorites list on Facebook that shows updates from the selected contacts only. Here’s what you need to do.

Step 1: Launch the Facebook app. Open the Feeds menu (check the steps above).

Step 2: Move to the Favorites tab.

Step 3: Tap Manage Favorites. Add your preferred friends and pages to the Favorites list.

Return to the previous screen to see the feed from your favorite contacts. Unfortunately, there is no way to create more than one favorite list on Facebook.

Fix 3. Hide Unwanted Posts

Do you often see posts from irrelevant Facebook pages on your feed? It’s especially annoying when Facebook suggests unnecessary posts from bogus pages that auto-play content on the home menu. You have the option to hide posts on such pages permanently.

Step 1: Launch the Facebook app on your phone. When you see such posts, tap the three horizontal dots menu from the posts’s top-right corner.

Step 2: Select the Hide all from page name’ option.

You can also tap Show less (receive fewer such suggestions), or Snooze (stop seeing their posts for 30 days). Repeat the same for all such posts to simplify your Facebook feed.

Fix 4. Manage Your Facebook Feed

Facebook also offers an effective way to manage your feed experience like a pro. Follow the steps below to make changes.

Step 1: Launch the Facebook app. Tap the three horizontal dots menu beside any post. Select Manage Facebook Feed.

Step 2: Here, you can,

  • Add people or pages to Favorites.
  • Snooze people, pages, and groups you follow for 30 days.
  • Unfollow people, pages, and groups you don’t want to see anymore.
  • Reconnect (follow back) people, pages, and groups you unfollowed earlier.
  • Reduce a certain content type, say clickbait or spam, unoriginal content forwarded many times, and sensitive content.

Make the necessary changes to each menu, and you are good to go.

While these hacks help you see more of your friends, there’s also one more thing you can do. As mentioned earlier, posts from friends you interact with most are prioritized. So, give the Facebook algorithm its cues by interacting, i,e., commenting, liking, or sharing posts of people or pages you want to see more on your feed.
