How to Fix Shortcuts Automation Not Working on iPhone

Quick Tips
  • Sometimes, automations get disabled on your iPhone, and you might have to manually turn them on again.
  • If you have created a specific automation for receiving notifications, you need to check if its sound is enabled.
  • Reset all iPhone settings by tapping Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings.

Basic Fixes

  • Disable Bluetooth connections: You can disable Bluetooth-paired connections to avoid not receiving notifications from the Shortcuts app.
  • Force quit and relaunch Instagram: This will give the app a fresh start on your iPhone.
  • Update iOS version: This will remove any bugs in the current version causing this issue.

Fix 1: Check if Automation Is Enabled

Sometimes, automation gets disabled on your iPhone. So, you might have to turn it on again manually.

Step 1: Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone and tap on Automations at the bottom.

Step 2: Select your automation that is not working properly.

Step 3: If previously disabled, enable the toggle for Enable This Automation and tap on Done at the top-right corner to confirm.

Step 4: Close the Shortcuts app and check if it solves the problem.

Please note that some automation on your iPhone may be triggered by location, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, email, etc. These require confirmation, especially when your iPhone is locked.

Fix 2: Check Automation Sound Settings

If you have created a specific automation for receiving notifications, ensure you have enabled its sound.

Step 1: Open the Shortcuts app and select Automations.

Step 2: Select the automation that is not working properly.

Step 3: Tap on Speak Text and expand the Siri voice command set for the automation.

Step 4: Ensure to enable Wait Until Finished and then go back to tap on Done at the top-right corner.

Step 5: Close the Shortcuts app and check if this solved the problem.

Fix 3: Reset All Settings

If none of the solutions work, reset all settings of your iPhone. This will remove your data and restore the default settings for your iPhone.

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone. Then, scroll down and tap on General.

Step 2: Scroll down and select Transfer or Reset iPhone.

Step 3: Select Reset and tap on Reset All Settings.

Step 4: Enter your iPhone passcode and tap again on Reset All Settings at the bottom.
