Basic Fixes
- Re-pair your Bluetooth device: Press the Windows + I shortcut to open the Settings app, select Bluetooth & devices from the left sidebar, and click Devices. Click the three-dot menu next to a paired device and select Remove device. Re-scan it using Add device to pair it again.
- Update or reinstall Bluetooth drivers: Open the Power User Menu by pressing the Windows + X shortcut, and select Device Manager. Expand Bluetooth, right-click the troublesome device, and select Update driver. If the error persists, right-click to Uninstall the device and restart your PC.
- Update Windows 11: Open Windows Settings, select Windows Update from the sidebar, and install available system updates.
Fix 1: Disable and Enable Dynamic Lock Under Windows Settings
Disabling and enabling the Dynamic Lock feature under Windows 11 settings refreshes it, fixing existing glitches preventing you from using the feature.
Step 1: Open Windows Settings (press the Windows + I shortcut), select Accounts from the left sidebar, and click Sign-in options.
Step 2: Select Dynamic lock, uncheck Allow Windows to automatically lock your device when you’re away, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on.
Fix 2: Tweak Windows Registry to Fix Dynamic Lock Not Working
If the Dynamic Lock feature in Windows 11 settings is either not working or is greyed out, it implies the feature is disabled on your PC. Tweak the Windows registry using the Registry Editor app to enable and use it.
Step 1: Click the search icon in the taskbar, search Registry Editor, and select Run as administrator.
Step 2: Copy-paste the following path in the Registry Editor navigation bar, and press Enter. It will automatically select the Winlogon key.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Step 3: Double-click EnableGoodbye, set its Value data to 1, and select OK to apply changes.
Fix 3: Change Group Policy Settings
Besides Registry Editor, you can edit the Windows Hello policy using the Local Group Policy Editor to fix the Dynamic Lock not working issue on Windows 11.
Note: If you use the Windows 11 Home edition, enable the missing Local Group Policy Editor from the Command Prompt.
Step 1: Press the Windows + R shortcut to open the Run dialog, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
Step 2: Navigate to the following path in the Local Group Policy Editor Window and double-click the Configure dynamic lock factors policy on the right.
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Hello for Business
Step 3: Set its value to Enabled, click Apply, and select OK.
Fix 4: Repair Corrupt System Files
Lastly, Dynamic Lock may fail to work on Windows 11 if its core system files are corrupt. Run the SFC (System File Checker) and DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) scans to repair and restore the system image.
Step 1: Press the Windows key, search cmd, and click Run as administrator.
Step 2: Type SFC /scannow in the console and press Enter to let System File Checker repair corrupt system files.
Step 3: Finally, execute the following DISM commands sequentially on the console and reboot your PC.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
