Fix 1: Disable Battery Saver
Once you turn on the battery saver, your Android device will prioritize battery life over performance. Therefore, if YouTube is stuttering on your Android device, turn off the battery saver and check if the app plays videos smoothly. It’s a proven solution that seems to have worked for many users.
Step 1: Open Settings. Tap on Battery. Tap on Power saving mode.
Step 2: Turn off the power saver mode if it is enabled.
Fix 2: Clear the Cache of the YouTube App
Deleting the cache will clean any junk files that may be causing YouTube videos to lag on your phone.
Step 1: Open the Settings app, go to Apps > See All Apps > YouTube.
Step 2: Now, select Storage and Cache and then tap on Clear Cache.
Fix 3: Data Saving Mode
The YouTube app has a data-saving mode that restricts it from consuming a lot of bandwidth to save data. It may be responsible for low-quality videos and can even cause the app to stutter and lag.
Open the YouTube app, tap on your profile picture, and go to Settings. Go to Data Saving and disable it.
Fix 4: Disable the ‘Reduce Video Quality’ Option
Just like the data saving mode, there’s yet another option within the YouTube app that reduces the video quality to save bandwidth. Here’s how to disable this option and prevent YouTube video lags.
Open the YouTube app, tap on your profile picture, and go to Settings. Go to Data Saving, and turn off Reduce video quality.
