Basic Fixes
- Restart Google Chrome: If Google Chrome isn’t responding, restart the browser. Doing this often resolves temporary glitches or browser freezing issues.
- Update and reinstall Google Chrome: Update the browser to its latest version. Sometimes, outdated versions can make it unresponsive. If the issue persists, reinstall it.
Fix 1: Clear Cache and Cookies
If Google Chrome freezes or crashes frequently, clear its cache and cookies.
Step 1: Open Google Chrome > click the three dots (ellipses).
Step 2: Select Clear browsing data.
Step 3: Switch to Advanced > select Cached images and files > Cookies and other site data.
Step 4: Click Clear data.
Now, relaunch the browser and see if it solves the issue.
Fix 2: Disable Chrome Extensions
Certain extensions can make Google Chrome unresponsive. To confirm this, disable all extensions and restart the browser.
Step 1: Tap the ellipses menu icon at the top.
Step 2: Select Extensions > Manage Extensions.
Step 3: Toggle off each extension and check if the browser responds again. If yes, enable them one by one and identify the problematic ones.
Fix 3: Reset Google Chrome Settings
If none of the above solutions work, reset Google Chrome to its default settings. This reverts all customized settings to their original state.
Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Reset settings > Reset and clean up.
Step 2: Click on Restore settings to their original defaults > Reset settings.
