Method 1: Using Search
A Skype Live ID allows you to do a lot, and Skype has a desktop and mobile app search function for finding users via their Skype Live ID. Here are the steps for using it.
Desktop
Step 1: Launch the Skype app on your PC.
Step 2: The search bar is at the top, just below your name. Type the Skype live ID, email address, or phone number of the person you want to add. Skype will show the suggested results.
Step 3: Click on the name of the person you want to add. Send a message to the person. The person will receive a request along with your message.
Note: You can only send up to 10 messages to the person until they accept your request. Also, if you send any image in the meantime, it will be blurred.
Mobile
Step 1: Open the Skype app on your mobile phone.
Step 2: Tap on the search icon at the top. Alternatively, tap on the floating add icon present at the bottom-right corner. Then, use the search.
Step 3: Type the person’s live ID. Then, tap on the person you want to add from the suggested results. Send them a message. They will receive your request as well.
Method 2: Using Add Contact Button
Skype also provides a contact button that lets you see a list of all your contacts or add new contacts. Follow the steps below to use it to add a new Skype Live ID.
Desktop
Step 1: Launch the Skype Desktop app.
Step 2: Click the Contacts icon at the top and click on New Contact.
Step 3: In the search box, type the person’s live ID. You can also search using their full name, email address, or phone number. Then click the Add button next to the person you want to add.
Tip: Often, the person doesn’t receive a request using this method. If that happens, send them a message.
Mobile
Step 1: In the Skype mobile app, tap on the Contacts tab present at the bottom. Tap on the add icon.
Step 2: Search for the person using their live ID or Skype Name, then tap on Add next to the required person’s name.
