3 Ways to Fix Spotify Sleep Timer Missing or Not Working

Quick Tips
  • You can force the Spotify app to close. Then, reopen the app and check again.
  • For now, you can only set up the Sleep Timer using the Spotify Android and iOS app.
  • You might be able to set up the Sleep Timer for the Spotify iOS app using the Shortcuts app. However, in certain cases, it might not work as expected.

Basic Fixes

  • Check Spotify server status: If Spotify is currently facing issues in the backend, it might cause issues with the app. To check this, go to Downdetector and check for recent outage reports.
  • Check for app updates: You must ensure the Spotify app is updated to access the feature.
  • Uninstall and reinstall Spotify: Uninstalling the Spotify mobile app can help delete all app data. Then, once you reinstall the app, a new copy will be installed, helping you fix the issue. Do this if you can’t find Sleep Timer.

Fix 1: Set Sleep Timer Using the Spotify App

To ensure your Spotify music pauses at the set time, I recommend setting the Sleep Timer using the Spotify app. This can help prevent interference from third-party apps. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Open the Spotify mobile app and go to the music player. At the top right corner, tap on the three-dot icon.

Step 2: Scroll down and tap on Sleep timer. Tap on the relevant time limit.

Fix 2: Disconnect Spotify Connect

The Spotify Connect feature lets you use your Spotify app to control other devices, like speakers. However, this might interfere with the Spotify Sleep Timer’s functions. So, use the settings menu and disable Spotify Connect from running in the background. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Open the Spotify mobile app and tap on your name icon at the top-left corner. Then, tap on Settings and privacy.

Step 2: Scroll down to the Devices section and turn off the toggle for Spotify Connect in background.

Note: iOS users must tap on the Devices option to access the Spotify Connect in background toggle.

Fix 3: Stop Casting Your Device

Casting Spotify onto your laptop or other device might prevent the Sleep Timer feature from working as expected. To fix this, stop casting your device using the Spotify mobile app and try setting it again. Here’s how.

Step 1: Open the Spotify mobile app and tap on the device you’re casting to.

Step 2: From the menu options, tap on This phone or any other device name.

Stop Casting Your Device

Once the music starts playing on your mobile device, set the Sleep Timer again and see if it turns off at the set interval.
