How to Add and Invite Someone to WhatsApp Group

Quick Tips

• Open the group chat, tap the group subject, and select Add Participant or Add Members. Choose the contact you want to add, and tap the checkmark to confirm.
• As an admin, you can create a shareable invite link for your group. Open the group info, tap Invite via link, and choose how you want to share the link.
• You can access the group info by tapping the group name, viewing the participant list, and checking who has joined.

Note: The steps are the same for Android and iOS, with some minor level changes in the button or option placement.

Create a Group with Someone on WhatsApp

Step 1: Launch WhatsApp and select a conversation.

Step 2: Tap the contact name at the top.

Step 3: Tap Create a group with the person at the bottom.

Step 4: Search and select another person from your contacts list. Tap the arrow icon at the bottom.

Step 5: Name the group, upload a relevant picture, and hit the checkmark.

Add and Invite Someone to the WhatsApp Group

Only group admins can invite others to a WhatsApp group. If you don’t have admin rights, ask the group admin to invite the person to a group chat.

Step 1: Launch WhatsApp and head to the group.

Step 2: Tap on the group name to open the group info menu and tap on Add Participants.

Step 3: Search for contacts from the following menu. Select Add.

You can also invite someone to a group chat via a link. Tap Invite to Group via Link > choose the relevant option.
