Basic Fixes
- Use the same Apple account and Wi-Fi network: AirPlay will only work between your Apple devices if you have the same Apple account and connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Bring the devices closer: The devices should be in close vicinity to each other to connect via AirPlay.
- Update software version: Install the latest software versions on your Apple TV and other Apple devices.
Fix 1: Check AirPlay Access Settings on Apple TV
If you are still facing issues with using AirPlay on your Apple TV, we suggest taking a look at its AirPlay settings. Here’s how.
Step 1: Open Settings > AirPlay and HomeKit > Enable AirPlay.
Step 2: Select Allow Access. Then, allow access to your Apple devices on the same network.
Fix 2: Check AirPlay Settings on Your Apple Devices
Just like on your Apple TV, you should check the AirPlay settings on your other Apple devices as well. Your iPhone, iPad, and Mac should be allowed to share screen and play media on Apple TV.
Check on iPhone and iPad
Open Settings > General > AirPlay and Handoff > Select Automatically AirPlay to TVs > Automatic.
Check on Mac
Step 1: Open Settings > General > AirPlay and Handoff.
Step 2: Select the drop-down menu next to Allow AirPlay For.
Step 3: Select your preferred setting. We are using Current User.
Fix 3: Reset Apple TV
If nothing works for you, reset all settings of your Apple TV to default. This will remove all your apps and settings. You will have to set up your Apple TV from scratch.
Open Settings > System > Reset > Follow the on-screen instructions.
