6 Best Protective Cases for the Apple Watch Series 9

The Apple Watch Series 9 is undoubtedly an excellent smartwatch. If you own one, a good way to extend its longevity is by using the best protective cases for the Apple Watch Series 9 listed below.

Goton Case With Screen Protector: Best Budget Buy

Compatibility: 41mm and 45mm

Goton Apple Watch case

The Goton case does the dual duty of protecting your watch’s chassis and screen. It’s a thin case that easily snaps onto your Apple Watch and doesn’t add any bulk. While it’s not rugged, it has a built-in tempered glass screen protector for added protection.

Furthermore, the Goton case offers reasonable protection against scratches and water. Its rubber ring acts as a gasket when you put it on the watch. However, given the nature of the case and the screen protector, it does change the look of your Apple Watch quite a bit. That is a trade-off you have to make if you want the extra protection for the screen.

What We Like

  • Built-in screen protector
  • Lightweight

What We Don’t Like

  • Changes the look of the Apple Watch slightly

Elkson Bumper Case: Best Everyday Case

Compatibility: 41mm and 45mm

Elkson case

If you already have a screen protector, you can consider the Elkson bumper case. It’s a soft TPU case and offers comparatively more protection than a hard case, especially during an impact. Further, the air pockets on all four corners can absorb impact if you drop your watch.

However, you’ll have to remove the bands to install this case. On the bright side, you don’t have to bother replacing it for a long time. It is slightly on the thicker side, but that’s the case with almost every bumper case. More importantly, the simple yet effective design is a clear winner.

What We Like

  • Offers good protection
  • Minimalistic looks

What We Don’t Like

  • Slightly on the thicker side

Tensea Case: Best Apple Watch Ultra Lookalike

Compatibility: 41mm and 45mm

Tense Apple Watch Ultra case

The Tensea case has a clever design and lets you convert your humble Series 9 watch to an Apple Watch Ultra 2. No kidding! It’s a polycarbonate case, though it looks like a metal case. Apart from the looks, it’s a lot like the Goton case. To that end, it’s a hard case with a built-in screen protector.

The Tensea is not perfect. For instance, the screen protector doesn’t stick to the display, leaving a slight air gap between the case and the screen. This issue slightly ruins the look and can even cause unregistered touches at times. But at the end of the day, if you still want the Apple Watch Ultra look, the Tensea case is the simplest and most affordable way to get it.

What We Like

  • Looks like the Apple Watch Ultra
  • Built-in screen protector

What We Don’t Like

  • The screen protector doesn’t stick to the display

Spigen Thin Fit: Best Slim Case

Compatibility: 45mm

Spigen Thin Fit

Spigen’s Thin Fit case has lots to offer. First, it is slim and sufficiently protective and does not add a considerable amount of bulk to the watch. In fact, it doesn’t drastically change the look of your Apple Watch, either. We’ve been using the Spigen Thin Fit on our Apple Watch for the past few years and have had no issues with it. It’s subtle while protecting the sides of the Apple Watch.

However, it’s worth noting that it doesn’t offer any protection for the screen since the lip on the front isn’t very pronounced. If you change your watch’s case regularly, note that Spigen Thin Fit can snap easily with repeated removal. It’s still an excellent option, especially if you want adequate protection without altering the form factor too much.

What We Like

  • Slim design
  • Looks minimalistic

What We Don’t Like

  • Doesn’t protect the display

Otterbox All Day Case: Best for Protection

Compatibility: 45mm

Otterbox all-day case

Otterbox is known for its rugged smartphone cases, and the same DNA now carries over to Apple Watch cases. Despite being thick and rugged, the All Day case from Otterbox snaps on like the Spigen Thin Fit and can even be removed with ease. Notably, the lip on the front is thick, so your watch’s display also gets adequate protection.

Despite being a thicker case, Otterbox has made it easy to operate the digital crown via a small cavity on the side. The case works as intended and offers solid protection. However, at times, the case tends to pop out by itself. Nonetheless, if safety is your foremost priority, this one is a good pick.

What We Like

  • Rugged protection
  • Can be removed and changed easily

What We Don’t Like

  • Can pop out easily during usage

Spigen Rugged Armor Pro: Best Rugged Case

Spigen Rugged Armor Pro

If you’re someone who is prone to accidentally banging their Apple Watch on table corners or wall edges, you must consider picking up the Rugged Armor Pro. This one is a case and band combo built into one. At the same time, it converts your Apple Watch into a digital G-Shock. Woah!

At the same time, it has the needed lip on the front which offers the needed protection. As you may have guessed, you will have to remove your existing Apple Watch straps. All things considered, the Spigen Rugged Armor Pro is suitable for sportspersons, field workers, and adventure enthusiasts. But as you may have guessed, this case will add considerable bulk to your watch.

What We Like

  • Ultimate protection
  • Built-in strap
  • Brings a new look

What We Don’t Like

  • Makes the watch bulky and heavy
