How to Play YouTube Music on Amazon Echo

Quick Tips
  • Youtube Music isn’t natively supported on Amazon Echo devices.
  • So, you must connect your phone manually via Bluetooth and play music via YouTube Music.
  • As a result, you cannot use voice commands to play songs from YouTube Music.

Step 1: Download the Alexa App on iPhone or Android

First, download the Alexa app for iOS or Android. This will enable pairing your smartphone to your Echo speaker.

Step 2: Connect Your Phone to Amazon Echo via Bluetooth

Step 1: Open the Alexa app. Sign in with your Amazon account details.

Step 2: Tap on the Devices menu. Select your Echo device from the list.

Step 3: Tap on the Settings gear at the top-right corner. Under the wireless menu, select Bluetooth Devices.

Step 4: Tap on the Pair a new device button at the bottom. Open the Bluetooth menu on your phone and find your Amazon Echo from the list to connect to it.

Step 3: Play YouTube Music on Amazon Echo

Once you connect your phone to an Amazon Echo, you are all set to use YouTube Music on it.

Step 1: Open YouTube Music on your phone. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled so you can connect to the Echo speaker.

Step 2: Start your favorite playlist and listen to songs on Amazon Echo.

You can also open YouTube or any music or podcast streaming service on your phone and play the same on Amazon Echo.

YouTube Music Limitations on Amazon Echo

With Apple Music, Spotify, or Amazon Music, you can connect the streaming service to Echo via Alexa and use voice commands like “Alexa, play music” or “Alexa, play party playlist on Spotify” to play your favorite songs. The same isn’t available on YouTube Music. You must open YouTube Music and start your favorite playlist manually. Alexa commands aren’t available here.
