How to Add Stickers to Photos or Videos on iPhone

• You can create custom stickers and add them to your images via the Photos app (Markup tool). However, that can’t be done with videos.
• To add stickers to videos in your Photos app, you can use the Apple Clips app.
• Additionally, you can use apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook Messenger, etc., to add stickers to your videos or photos on iPhone.

Let’s explore some options to add a sticker to a picture or video on an iPhone.

Method 1. Use the Photos App

Note: The following method only works for images, you can’t add stickers to videos via the photos app.

If your iPhone is running iOS 17 or higher, use the Photos app to put stickers on photos. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: Open Photos and select an image you want to edit.

Step 2: Tap Edit. Select the markup tool at the top.

Step 3: Tap + in the bottom-right corner and select Add Sticker.

Step 4: You can use emoji, memoji, custom stickers (shown in the next section), or other sticker packs. Tap the sticker you want to add.

Step 5: Place the sticker anywhere, and resize it. Tap the three-dot menu to cut, copy, duplicate, or delete it.

Create a Custom Sticker on iPhone

You can also create a custom sticker and add it to your photos. Here’s how.

Step 1: Launch Photos and select the image for a sticker. Long-tap the main subject and let the system detect it.

Step 2: Tap ‘Add Sticker‘ from a small floating menu.

Step 3: You can tap Add Effect to customize the sticker look further. Tap Done.

From now on, whenever you open the markup tool to add stickers, the system shows an option to use your custom stickers.

Method 2. Via Camera in Messages

Note: This method is only applicable to videos you record at the time, you can’t use it to add stickers to existing videos in your camera roll. Although you can add stickers to photos from the gallery.

The Messages app lets you add stickers to a photo using the built-in camera. Of course, your iPhone needs to run the latest iOS version before you follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the Messages app and compose a new message.

Step 2: Tap the + icon beside a message box and select Camera. Capture an image or Record a video.

Note: You can also select Photos and choose an existing photo to add stickers.

Step 3: Select the Effects icon at the bottom-left corner.

Step 4: Now, select Stickers, Emoji Sticker, or Memoji from the options. Hit Done and then Send.

You can long-press on the image and save it to your device gallery.

Method 3. Use Apple Clips to Put Stickers on Videos

Clips is a free app from Apple to create fun videos on the go. You can make immersive videos with several filters, dynamic music, animated text, emojis, stickers, and more.

Unlike the Messages app, you can import any of your existing videos from the device storage and add stickers. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: Download Clips from the App Store.

Step 2: Open Clips, and the app launches the video camera. Record or import a video.

Step 3: Tap the Effects (star) icon at the bottom right corner.

Step 4: Open the emoji, Memoji, or animated stickers menu. Tap the sticker you want to add to a video.

Step 5: Hit the Share icon and then Save Video.

You can find your edited video in the Photos app.

Method 4. Use WhatsApp to Add Stickers to Photos Or Videos on iPhone

You can use WhatsApp to add stickers to a photo or video before sharing it with someone on the platform. You can even start a chat with yourself on WhatsApp and send edited pictures to it.

Download the edited photos or videos to your phone and easily share them on other platforms. Here’s what you need to do.

Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your iPhone. Select any conversation or your personal chat.

Step 2: Tap + at the bottom and select Photos & Video Library.

Step 3: Select a photo/video on which you want to add stickers. Tap the emoji icon at the top.

Step 4: You can add stickers from existing sticker packs or move to the emoji menu.

Step 5: Add as many stickers as you like to your image and hit Send.

If you want to use the edited picture or video elsewhere, save it on your phone. Open the same video, tap the share icon at the bottom-left corner, and select Save.

Open the Photos app on your iPhone and share your edited pictures or videos with others. However, note that WhatsApp compresses the media while sending it, to avoid that send HD photos and videos.

Note: You can also import Memoji stickers to WhatsApp and add them to your videos or photos.

Method 5. Use Facebook Messenger to Put Stickers

Facebook Messenger also comes with capable video editing features to add stickers. Here are the steps to pin stickers to a moving object in Messenger.

Step 1: Open Facebook Messenger and open any chat thread.

Step 2: Tap the gallery icon and select a video/photo. Tap Edit.

Step 3: Select the sticker icon at the top. Select a sticker you want to add.

Step 4: You can resize the sticker and drop it to a relevant place. Tap Save at the bottom-left corner to download the edited video to the device storage.

Method 6. Use Telegram to Add Stickers to Photos on iPhone

Telegram offers even more features when adding stickers to a video or photo. You can add standard stickers or utilize animated ones and download the photo as a GIF or video.

The app comes with a ‘Saved Messages’ chat to save text, photos, and videos for personal use. You can add stickers on a photo and save it to the device gallery.

Step 1: Launch Telegram and open the Saved Messages chat.

Step 2: Tap the pin icon at the bottom and select a picture or video. It will open the default editor menu in Telegram.

Step 3: Select the highlighter icon at the bottom. Move to the Sticker tab.

Step 4: Select a relevant sticker from the default sticker gallery. You can resize the sticker too.

Note: If you add animated stickers to a photo, Telegram will convert it into a video.

Step 5: Tap the checkmark at the bottom-right corner to save the edit. Hit send and check your edited photo in Telegram.

Step 6: Long-press on the edited image and hit Save Image. If it’s a video, you can save it as a GIF or video.

You can open the Photos app on your iPhone and find your edited pictures or videos to share. You can also use other apps like Instagram, Snapchat, etc., to add stickers to photos on your iPhone and save them to your gallery.
