How to Fix “Invite Collaborator” Not Showing on Instagram

Quick Tips
  • Avoid scheduling your reel while adding a collaborator. Instagram doesn’t allow the same.
  • Go to your Instagram profile > Settings and activity > Account type and tools > Switch to professional account.
  • Go to your Instagram profile > Settings and activity > Tags and mentions > enable Allow tags from everyone.

Basic Fixes

  • Avoid scheduling your post: Instagram can prevent users from scheduling their content if they have added someone as a collaborator.
  • Disable Private account: Go to your Instagram profile > Settings and activity > Account privacy > disable Private account.
  • Force quit and relaunch: This will give the app a fresh start on your iPhone.
  • Update or reinstall Instagram: Install the latest version of the app to get rid of bugs and glitches.

Fix 1: Switch to a Business or Professional Account

If the Invite Collaborator feature isn’t showing up on your personal Instagram account, switch your account type to Business or Professional. Here’s what you need to do.

Note: Instagram uses the same user interface on iOS and Android. We have used the screenshots from Instagram for the Android app. You can follow the same on your iPhone and change your account type.

Go to your Instagram profile > Settings and activity > Account type and tools > Switch to professional account.

Fix 2: Allow People to Tag You on Instagram

Are you not able to receive collaboration requests from other Instagram accounts? Do your friends often complain about failing to find you for collaboration on a post or Reel? You need to allow everyone to tag you on the platform.

Go to your Instagram profile > Settings and activity > Tags and mentions > enable Allow tags from everyone.

Fix 3: Add Collaborator and Save as Draft

As suggested by a user on Reddit, a specific way of saving your post as draft can work out to fix this issue. However, this solution was suggested only for Reels.

Step 1: Open Instagram > go to your Reels draft > remove the music from your Reel > invite the Collaborator > Save the draft.

Step 2: Go back to your draft > add the music again > post your reel with collaborator.

Fix 4: Clear Instagram Cache

Instagram collects cache in the background to improve app performance on your phone. The corrupt cache can lead to uses like can’t invite collaborators on Instagram. You’ll need to clear Instagram cache and try again.

Open Instagram app info > Storage and cache > Clear cache.

If nothing works, you can report the issue to Instagram.

  1. I find Invite collaborator but unable to invite them. It shows that they can’t collaborate as they don’t have access to Instagram music. Though many other IG handle can collaborate with same account with same Audio.
