  • Clear the app cache and turn off any battery restrictions for the Prime Video app to fix the problem.

Basic Fixes

  • Restart Prime Video: Restart the Prime Video app and your smartphone to eliminate bugs and glitches.
  • Update Prime Video: To ensure a bug-free experience, update the Prime Video app from the App Store or Play Store.
  • Update Device: A software update on your device may fix problems with picture-in-picture video playback.

Fix 1: Enable Picture-in-Picture in Settings

Prime Video can’t play the picture-in-picture video if the feature is disabled in Settings.

On Android

Step 1: Open the Settings app, go to Special App access, and select Picture-in-picture. If you don’t find the option, use the search bar in Settings to locate it.

Step 2: Select Prime Video from the list and turn on the toggle for Allow Picture-in-Picture.

On iPhone

Open the Settings app > go to General > Picture in Picture > enable the toggle for Start PiP Automatically.

Fix 2: Clear Prime Video Cache

You can clean up the junk within an application by clearing the cache. Once there is a lot of accumulated cache, it might lead to a few junk files that execute bugs, which might be responsible for the problem.

On Android

Step 1: Long-press on the Prime Video app icon and select the App info button. Now, tap on Clear data.

Step 2: Select Clear cache and tap on OK to confirm.

On iPhone

Offloading an application on your iPhone removes temporary data, including cache and junk files. However, it maintains all the other essential data, such as your sign-in information, in-app downloads and purchases, etc.

Step 1: On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > tap on iPhone Storage

Step 2: Scroll down and select Prime Video > tap on Offload App. Tap on the Offload App once again to confirm.

Step 3: Now, tap on Reinstall App.

Fix 3: Disable Battery Restrictions for Prime Video

Battery saver and restrictions to the Prime Video app may prevent it from showing you picture-in-picture video.

On Android

Tap and hold the Prime Video app and select App info. Tap on Battery saver and ensure no restrictions are in place.

On iPhone

While there’s no option to enable a battery saver for a particular app, ensure you’ve disabled Low Power Mode on your iPhone. Go to Settings > Battery > disable Low Power Mode.
